Are they a treasure or what? What a wonderful time of their lives.
I didn’t think that it could get any better. But watching my son and daughter in her second year of college discovering life and having highly intellectual conversations with me, it’s not better but it’s a new wonderful.
They’re just the best gifts in this life.

And—more important—will they follow your wish

That said, I talk with both of them honestly and openly about the commitment that children require. I use their own lives and the demands that they place on me and their father time wise and monetarily. I let them know that it may have looked easy, but that was because they were planned for. We were impatient waiting for their presence once we decided to start our family, they made us complete. That’s the environment that I hope I’ve instilled in them to bring a child into, nothing less.
Yes, life can happen in a myriad of ways, but a whole lot of those ways are at their fingertips, and I would hope that exploring their own lives and the world will take precedence.
While no parent can ever fully know what their children will do with the upbringing that you provide them, I would honestly be shocked if either of them had a child prior to at least completing college, and quite honestly establishing a career. If, however, something as such did occur, mommy is but a phone call away. That they definitely know.
Parenting discussion alert, you must have known this would be a long response!
